A Conference for Collegiate Staff Women

This doesn’t happen very often.

As a matter of fact, we can’t remember the last time it happened!

We hope you can join us.

We think you will be glad you did!

A Conference for Collegiate Staff Women:

Refreshed, Inspired, Equipped

All women involved in collegiate ministry (campus ministry wives, full time staff, and part time staff) are invited to join us for two unique days together.

When:  June 20 –June 22, 2016 Conference begins with a light meal at 6:00p.m.on Monday.  It will end after the final session on Wednesday evening.  A light breakfast will be served on Thursday morning for those staying overnight Wednesday.

Where:  Norman, Oklahoma (Okay, we thought about San Diego – the sun, the beach, the ocean view – but then reality set in and we decided Norman was cheaper.   Hey, you can’t have everything!)  Conference will be held at the Sullivant Retreat Center.

Who:  All women in collegiate ministry – wives of campus ministers, full and part time staff women.  (No children please.  Exception:  If you are nursing a baby, we will gladly accommodate you and the baby.)

Guest Speaker:  Connally Gilliam

Connally is on staff with the Navigators and has lived in Washington, D.C. for 20 years.  She communicates with transparency and warmth as she points women toward Jesus.

Cost:  $125 (After June 1/$150)  Includes 3 nights' housing and all meals beginning with supper Monday evening through Thursday breakfast.  Please pay the old fashioned way -- by check.  You can register online from this page.  Then, please mail a check payable to:   Alongside Women, Inc., 2218 W. Columbine Ln., Wichita, KS67204.  Please enclose a note indicating the name(s) of those the registration check includes.

Registration is now open!

“I have always believed that there is a need for camaraderie among collegiate staff women.  Our lives are quite unique.  Most of you probably earn your salary by raising your own financial support.  There are only a handful of women in your city whose lives look like yours.  In some cases, you may be the only one.  Some of you are wives of directors and are busy raising children and going to baseball practice and gymnastics.  Even so, you find your home frequently stuffed full of college students for meetings and meals and game nights.  Single or married, we understand one another in ways no one else can.  So, to have the chance to be together with women from around the country who are investing in college students . . . well, that’s rare.  There is so much we can learn from one another.  So many ways we can encourage one another in Christ.”  Melody Richeson

Conference Schedule and Important Information

We are only two weeks away!  We. Can. Not. Wait.  Please find here a brief schedule along with answers to some important questions we know you have.  Don't see the answer to your question?  Call Jessica Spade (785) 263-5098.

What time do I need to arrive at Sullivant Retreat Center?

  • Registration will begin at 4:00p.m., Monday, June 20th.  We will have dinner ready for you at 5:45. The first session begins at 7:00p.m.

When is the conference over?

  • Our final session will end at approximately 9:00p.m. Wednesday night,  June 22nd.  Your conference fee covers the cost of staying at the Lodge on Wednesday night.   We will serve you breakfast on Thursday, June 23rd and send you on your way.  If you live nearby, you are welcome to head home when we are done Wednesday evening.  However, the cost cannot be adjusted for you.  Sorry!  It’s a package deal

What do I need to bring?

  • Sullivant Retreat Center is a lovely facility that is similar to a motel.  You do not need to bring bedding or towels.  Attire for the conference will be casual: shorts, jeans, etc.  I don’t believe there will be any men on the grounds so you could even don pajama pants for late evening conversations or early morning coffee.  Sullivant is a beautiful, peaceful place near a lake with numerous places sit or stroll outside.  So, bring good shoes for a long walk. (You might want to pack some insect repellent. This is Oklahoma.)  If you enjoy a daily run, we can point you in the right direction.
  • Of course, bring your Bible and journal.  We hope you will get both some extended time with God and some great conversation with friends, new and old.
  • We suggest that you check the weather online.  Most likely it will be hot and somewhat humid.  But, it could also be rainy or stormy this time of year.  A light jacket and an umbrella might be good to have along.
  • If you have a favorite board game, or outdoor game, feel free to bring it.  Bocce Ball, anyone?
